I am using the LTC2946 device to measure and monitor the power, charge and energy into and out of a battery.
To do so I intend to connect the battery output (+ve terminal) to a DC shunt, to produce the sense voltage required for the LTC2946 device.
The datasheet states throughout the use of a 0.02 Ohm resistor, with the exception in some places of using a 0.25 and a 0.2ohm sense resistor.
I get the impression that the resistance of the sense resistor is not fixed, and can be changed? Is this so. If so. How does the LTC2946 device know? as I am unable to see how it will calculate the current value correctly as it will not know the value of the sense resistor.
My question is; can the sense resistor be different to that stated on the datasheet?
